Six Nations Rugby - England`s 18th consecutive win

England beat Scotland for their 18th consecutive win. Jonathan Joseph claimed a hat-trick for himself during the match. England managed to score seven tries, while Scotland only scored three. The games between England and Scotland are always a battle to reach the goal of winning the Calcutta Cup. Scotland`s Fraser Brown gained a yellow card during the first two minutes and never seemed to recover. It didn’t help that one of their main players, Stuart Hogg, was badly injured and so was his replacement. England took advantage of these injuries and played to the best of their ability.

The Six Nations, is an annual competition between six different countries. The countries involved are, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy. There are a couple of rewards involved in this tournament such as: The Calcutta Cup, which is won by either England or Scotland when they play a match. The Triple Crown which can be won by one of the home nations-England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. This is won when one country beats all the other home nations. The Six Nations started off in 1883 as a competition between just the home nations. In 1910, France was invited to join this tournament, finally, in 2000, the actual Six Nations was founded when Italy was invited to join.

The biggest matches so far this year have been eventful, filling people with pride and anguish. The five main matches have been between England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The first match was between Scotland and Ireland at Murrayfield on the 4th of February with an overall score of 27-22 to Scotland. Scotland`s full-back, Stuart hogg, scored twice in the first half and a successful 3rd try by Alex Dunbar to secure their victory. The second match was between Wales and England, at The Principality Stadium on the 11th of February. It was a close match with Wales leading 16-11 with less than 10 minutes left, however England managed to score a last minute try by Elliot Daly. The third match was between Scotland and Wales, at Murrayfield on the 25th of February, with a final score of 29-13. Tim Visser scored the winning try on his wing after a great kick from Stuart Hogg with less than 13 minutes left on the clock. The 4th match was between Wales and Ireland with a score of 22-9, at the principality stadium on the 10th of March. George North secured the victory with 2 tries, ruining Ireland`s hopes of winning the 6 nations. The final match was between England and Scotland, at Twickenham on the 11th of March in which England won the championship by beating Scotland 61-21. The final match of the championship is going to be between England and Ireland, it will be an eventful match for both sides, and would consequently fill them with pride and joy.

A few star players that have shone through during this tournament. The first is CJ Stander in the back row for Ireland who has scored 3 tries in 4 of his appearances. Jonathan joseph from England has also shown skill throughout this tournament, especially in his last match managing to score 3 tries. Johnny sexton has shown immense knowledge of the game in this tournament while playing as fly-half for Ireland scoring 1 drop goal and 4 penalties. Finally, George north the winger for wales has struggled through a leg injury and managed to score 3 tries in 3 appearances. Overall this 6 nations has been an action-packed and momentous tournament.
